Message from the CEO
“Often times you have to be the change, you wish to see.” ENR 2012
The importance and necessity of accessible and affirming transgender services in Richmond is what drives me as the Founder and CEO of SensibleTips LLC. Having resided in the area for over a decade, I have witnessed efforts to create and expand upon resources for transgender people; I have also observed remaining gaps and a need for more community resources and services. A desire to be the change I wanted to see, I was first motivated to create an online resource blog relevant and specific to transgender men—utilizing peer reviewed research and drawing on my own experiences and personal knowledge of the subject matter.
A decade later, still impacted by limited community resources in the area, I decided to contribute to the solution once again and found SensibleTips LLC. The mission being to provide the resources and services to affirm, support and inform transgender people in the Richmond area.
I feel that an organization for transgender people, under the full direction of transgender people is empowering and impactful. Truly, for the people and by the people. Equipped with lived experience, professional & academic background and a desire to help other transgender people live the best version of their lives, I am dedicated to the mission of SensibleTips LLC.
I am an experienced peer educator and group facilitator with an academic and professional background in mental health, mental health skill building and advocacy. My knowledge is derived not only from lived experience, but engaging with the transgender community while providing peer education, advocacy, sexual violence prevention education, facilitating support groups, moderating panel discussions and presenting workshops & trainings.
